NEW DELHI: A covid patient was allegedly raped by an ambulance driver en-route to hospital in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala on Saturday.
Authorities reported that the girl had tested positive on Saturday, following which she was in quarantine at her relative’s house in Panthalam.
According to the reports, two women who tested positive were sent to two different hospitals in an ambulance driven by 25 year old Nowfal
Nowfal is said to have dropped one of them, and taken the girl (19 years old) to a secluded place and raped her.
A released medical examination of the victim has confirmed the girl was raped.
The accused driver has been taken into custody based on a complaint by the victim’s mother to the hospital authorities and the police.
‘We were informed by the hospital authorities after the victim told them about the incident and we took him into custody”
We will take the statement of the girl later as she is not a position to explain her ordeal,’

Cases of sexual assault on COVID-19 patients have been reported from across the country.
In Delhi, in July, two people were arrested for allegedly raping a teenage COVID-19 patient at a Covid Care Centre.
